Arrival!

Today, at 4:30 pm, two 4 week old pigeons in a cardboard box were placed in my hands. With a peek through the air holes I saw them, huddled together. One, a larger and older one, was white dappled with black, while the other one was a snowy white.

Peeping helplessly as they left their home behind...poor pigeons. A bit of a rough ride in the car too. After stopping to buy some grit and food at a pitiful pet store along the way, AND after trying on booties at a scuba shop, we finally arrived home.

A few quick last-minute arrangements in the loft and they were in. Both of them stood on my arm with their reassuring weight as I gently placed them on the ledge. They had fresh water, grit, food, and a bath waiting for them (hot day!). However, I'm not letting them out on the sunning ledge just yet. I've checked on them a number of times but they haven't moved...a little annoying when you just placed a bunch of goodies in front of them. I guess they're just getting used to their new home. I'll start training in about 2 weeks!

Any name suggestions? Well then....LET THE PIGEON GAMES BEGIN!
